ReadyFare Card

What is ReadyFare? 

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) will soon move from ConnectCard® to an enhanced, next-generation fare card called ReadyFare™.   

During this transition, riders can still use their ConnectCards. We do not yet have a date for when ConnectCards will no longer be accepted, but we expect it to be sometime in late 2026. You will be able to transfer any remaining balance from your old ConnectCard to your new ReadyFare card using an online balance transfer form. 

How Do I Get a ReadyFare card? 

Current registered ConnectCard holders will receive a card in the mail with instructions on how to request a ReadyFare card. Current ConnectCard holders who have registered their card with an email address will also receive an email with these same instructions. Once a request for a new ReadyFare card has been submitted, PRT will mail you your new card.  

Fund Balance Transfer

Once you've received your new ReadyFare card, you can fill out the ReadyFare Fund Balance Transfer form to transfer any remaining funds from your ConnectCard to your ReadyFare card.

Manage Your Account and Print Passes

The ReadyFare system allows you to manage your account and even print passes from home, the library, or anywhere with an internet connection. Simply visit https://pgh.justride.tickets/

ReadyFare Vending Machines

You can also purchase a ReadyFare card for $1 at the new Fare Vending Machines (FVMs) that are currently being installed. Once a ReadyFare machine is installed at a location, the existing ConnectCard machine will be removed. Use the map below to find ReadyFare Vending Machines:

Seniors

Riders with a Senior ConnectCard do not need to take any action at this time.

Seniors should continue to use their Senior ConnectCard as a flash pass on PRT service as valid fare payment. If your senior ConnectCard expiration is approaching or has passed, please continue to use the card and disregard the expiration date as we make this transition to ReadyFare.

	Full fare	Don't want to wait for the new card? Use up your stored cash value or transfer your funds to the Ready2Ride app online or at the PRT Downtown Service Center. Once cards are available, you can pick one up at any ReadyFare Fare Vending Machine, the PRT Downtown Service Center, a PRT ReadyFare retail outlet, or request one by mail. You will be able to transfer any remaining balance from your old ConnectCard to your new ReadyFare card.		Summer 2026
	Reduced fare	PRT will mail new cards to Reduced Fare riders that request one. Current reduced fare riders will receive information by mail/email on how to request a ReadyFare card and transfer funds from their ConnectCard.		Summer 2026
	AlleghenyGO	PRT will mail new cards to registered AlleghenyGO riders. Once received, you will be able to transfer any remaining balance from your ConnectCard to the new ReadyFare card.		Summer 2026
	Annual pass	Annual passes are available for purchase through PRT's Ready2Ride mobile ticketing app. Annual subscribers with a valid pass do not have to do anything at this time. Customers with expired or soon-to-expire passes will receive a new ReadyFare card with the purchase of a new annual pass.		February - March 2026
	Job Perks	If you have a ConnectCard through your employer or the Job Perks program, you will receive new cards through your employer once ReadyFare cards become available. Please contact your administrator for more information.		Fall 2026
	ACCESS or ACCESS Caregiver	ACCESS will provide new cards to riders who have ACCESS ConnectCards. Contact ACCESS if you have any questions.		Summer 2026
	University student, staff or faculty	Many universities have begun transitioning to mobile passes. Continue following your university's guidance. Contact your university's pass administrator with questions.	University ID or mobile pass (depending on the school)	Check with your university
	Parent or caregiver of Pittsburgh Public School student	PPS ID cards will continue to work through the end of the 2025-26 school year.		PPS will provide more information for the 2026-27 school year
	Parent or caregiver or Kids ConnectCard user	Children ages 6-11 who currentyl use the Kids ConnectCard will receive information in the mail on how to receive a ReadyFare card and transer funds from their Kids ConnectCard to their new ReadyFare card.		Summer 2026
	Senior ConnectCard user	Seniors do not need to transition to a new ReadyFare card at this time. You will be able to use your current ConnectCard as a flash pass during the transition period. If you have a Senior ConnectCard that is expiring sooner, we will continue to accept expired Senior ConnectCards after the expiration date.		Spring 2027
