Installation of New ReadyFare Vending Machines Begins

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 21, 2026) – PRT has begun installing new fare vending machines as part of its transition to the ReadyFare system. Installation of more than 80 machines system-wide is expected to last through late summer 2026 and will help riders smoothly transition from the ConnectCard system to ReadyFare.

The new machines will allow riders to buy ReadyFare cards for $1 once they are installed.

In addition, PRT will distribute mailed postcards and an email blast to registered ConnectCard users notifying them that they can now request a ReadyFare card via mail. This effort is part of PRT’s “Ready? Set? Go!” campaign throughout 2026 to conveniently prepare riders for the switch to a new card system.

Riders who already use the Ready2Ride mobile app will not need to make any changes, as it operates on the same platform as ReadyFare and can continue to be used for fare payment.
