Fares for Riders with Disabilities

Individuals with disabilities are eligible for reduced fares.

If you have a permanent or temporary disability, you may be eligible to obtain a Reduced Fare card that lets you pay half the regular fare.

You can load the card with money, a 7-day pass, or a 31-day pass at any fare machine, participating retail locations, or at the Downtown Service Center.

If you prefer to pay the half fare in cash, you still need to tap your card when you board so we can confirm you’re eligible.

To apply for a Reduce Fare ConnectCard:

Complete the form below or download and complete the Reduced Fare Application

If you already have a Medicare card, your physician does not need to complete Part II or Part III of the application. Simply bring your Medicare card and photo ID with you to the Downtown Service Center to have your application processed.

If you do not have a Medicare card, you must have your treating physician complete Part II and Part III of the Reduced Fare Application naming your medical disability. Your treating physician must also sign the application.

Your physician must include a written letter on their letterhead. The letter should name the medical disability as listed in Part III of the application. Your physician must also sign this letter.

Once you've completed the application, return it by mail or in person to:

Pittsburgh Regional Transit
623 Smithfield Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Only original documents will be accepted. All documents must be submitted to the Downtown Service Center within 30 days of the date shown on the application and letter from the treating physician.

Once your application is approved:

You'll receive a notice in the mail at the address you provided on the application instructing you to visit our Downtown Service Center to pick up your new Reduced Fare ConnectCard.

Please bring the notice you received in the mail and your photo ID to PRT's Downtown Service Center. The Downtown Service Center is located at 623 Smithfield Street and is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
